We’ve talked about the reasons we love ColoreScience makeup, but today we wanted to focus on the actual products that we love and absolutely can’t live without. While ColoreScience now has a large selection of different products we love, from eyeshadows, lip shades, to blushes and more, they started with just a few key products that set them above and beyond other makeup lines.
These products are known as the “Core Four.” They are made up of chemical free, pure mineral products that work together to smooth and even your complexion while also giving your skin protection from the sun and environment. This 4-step regimen can be completely individualized based on your skin type, skin tone, makeup preferences, and lifestyle.
Step 1 – Prime
The first step in your makeup application is to start with a primer. This is like starting with a clean and smooth canvas. The primer is going to even out any imperfections in skin texture, enhance your skin tone, and will help diminish the look of wrinkles and fine lines. Using a primer will also help your foundation go on evenly, giving you a beautiful and flawless look. Each primer is specialized for a variety skin types, to treat and improve specific skin issues. All ColoreScience primers have a high level of SPF, so you are always protected.
Step 2 – Correct
The second step is to cover and correct your skin. Depending on the coverage you prefer, you can choose from a loose powder, a pressed powder, or a mineral cream. These foundations will cover imperfections and even out your skin tone, but won’t feel heavy and thick like other traditional powders. All foundations include Vitamins A & E and Beta Carotene, which are antioxidants that protect your skin from the environment.
Step 3 – Set
The next step is your setting mist. Using a setting mist will take away the chalkiness of the minerals and keeps your makeup in place all day. Our personal favorite is the Hydrating Mist, since our skin is constantly dry from the weather here in Utah. The moisture will help replenish the skin, so it stays hydrated and won’t peel or become flakey. ColoreScience setting mists are made up of heavy water (D20) for added hydration and also include heather extract to help sooth the skin.
Step 4 – Protect
The last and final step of the core four is to protect your skin with sunscreen. It is SO important to use a sunscreen daily since protection from the sun the number one way to keep your skin looking young and healthy. ColoreScience has made it extremely quick and easy to reapply your sunscreen throughout the day with their Sunforgettable sunscreens. These Sunfortgettable sunscreens come in 3 shades and have a self-dispensing powder brush, so all you need to do to apply is sweep the brush over your face.
